LANA in IMAICHI-CITY
Dear Students of West Middle School from Japan

Document of 10,June,1998

These are photos from a welcoming banquet the second day we were here.  The man above on the left is the mayor of Imaichi.  The man on the right is the Superintendent of the Imaichi Schools.  The very important dignitary below on the left is me.  No, I did NOT speak in Japanese, because I only know about 15 words and they don:t make a speech when they are put together!  I spoke in English, and then it was translated by a translator to Japanese.  The person in the right lower corner is my host, Chckashi Fudui.  We had some very delicious food (and some scary food!)  I liked the fruit, the rice, and the fried chicken.  I was very worried about the raw fish, sushi, and seaweed.  It is very impressive to see the Japanese flags and American flags hanging side by side.  The Japanese, as you see, has a very large red circle.  All of these important people spoke to us in English.  I was impressed!
Wayne Rosby, the principal at Valley View, is with me below and left.  The Superintendent of schools is with us on the right.  This was after the banquet.

These pictures are of me on the left and a few of the teachers from Rapid City.  In the right hand picture is a principal at a Japanese elementary school, Mr. Rosby, Mrs. Lindquist, Mrs. Grell and me.

These photos are at the front of the hotel where the banquet was held.  See the beautiful bouquets?  They are real.  They have many beautiful orchids here.  I forgot to tell you that these fancy pictures are taken by Mr. Fidui:s special digital camera.  We can see the photos immediately by looking at the back of his camera after he takes the photos!
